The Postcode Diaries: My Lifelong Art Project
An accidentally well-kept art journal led to the birth of my idea to create “The Postcode Diaries” - a visual expedition of all the postcodes in Victoria, Australia.
Postcode 3010: University of Melbourne
Yes, Melbourne University has its own postcode. When I wasn't in a class or a lecture for my architecture degree, I probably would have been sitting in this location. Union Lawns, affectionately known as "Concrete Lawns", was a convenient meeting point at the northern end of the campus.
Postcode 3008: Docklands
On this particular day of sketching, a worker walked by me and called out to ask if I was sketching. I said yes and he asked if he could see my work. I showed him my book and he excitedly told me that my style was very similar to his own dad's art.
Postcode 3006: Southbank
One of my favourite pit stops in the city is right here on Southbank between Flinders Street and Queens Bridge. It's great because I can people-watch, I can see our city skyline and it's right near the Lindt store.
Postcode 3004: St Kilda Road BD
Who even knew that St Kilda Road would have its own postcode? When I was younger, I loved travelling along St Kilda Road and seeing all the big trees lining each side of the street. It was how I knew we were almost in the city.
Postcode 3003: West Melbourne
For Postcode 3003, I knew I wanted this train station because I am yet to visit a station with such a magnificent view.
Postcode 3002: East Melbourne
I love Gothic buildings. It was my favourite style to learn while I studied architecture. I love the details as seen in this beautiful church building.
